General Information
An extensive two-track rail system meanders through their gardens, replicating in miniature the sights and sounds of classic steam and diesel from days past. The trains are full working models and operate to take passenger rides (for a small fee)on the first and third Sunday of every month from 1pm to 4pm, weather permitting. The fee goes toward maintaining the Club facilities and grounds, and fuel for the trains.
The trains used to pull the passenger carriages are fully working miniature trains, the Steam trains boilers have been pressure tested and certified, the train drivers also need to be qualified and certified before being allowed to take passenger rides.
Building miniature trains take a lot of time and effort and requires a degree of skill. They are extremely complex and impressive machines with all the features of the full size reproduced in miniature, the Boiler with relief valve and safety valves, firebox, cylinders, Pistons, plumbing, control valves, brakes, oilers, pressure gauges, wheels, suspension etc all need to operate correctly. If anyone is interested in getting into model engineering, operating miniature trains or helping run the miniature Railway they are welcome to talk to MAMS members about joining MAMS.
